China, Japan. Rhodotypos scandens is a medium sized deciduous shrub that grows on the north side of our Four Seasons Garden. We admire its deeply veined, corduroy-like leaves and the papery, white, four-petalled flowers that grace its stem tips. Glossy black berries appear in late summer.
