Tapering spikes of purple red flowers rise above mounds of lush foliage throughout the summer. The 2-inch long, sage-like, evergreen leaves are scalloped along their edges, deeply veined and aromatic. Teucrium hircanicum is known to self-seed but many gardeners praise it for the way it knits together a summer border with surprising combinations.
