When we first grew Thymus x citriodorus 'Lemon Frost,' we assumed from the name that the leaves would be lightly variegated with yellow. We were surprised when the glossy, evergreen leaves did not have variegation. Later, when the herb was covered with tiny white flowers, it became clear that they were the frost on this lemon thyme. The fragrant leaves may be used in cooking but they also make a nice evergreen groundcover that will take light (and aromatic) foot traffic.
