This widely distributed North American perennial may be found in wetter areas along the Columbia River Gorge. Its dynamic candelabra-like flower-spikes always draw the attention of summer visitors, including bees and birds. Clumping in habit, not needing excessive care or fertility, it is a shame that more gardeners do not take advantage of the charms of Verbena hastata.
